Often when I’m doing a quick search on Google and all I want is to see the details quickly over of the link. And then Safari launches the app… And I have to wait for the app to launch. And I wait again for the data to load inside the app. This is extremely frustrating for a quick simple search.
Besides the Quora app, I also encounter this problem with Reddit, Google Maps, Wikipedia and IMDB.
Stop Safari opening an app:
- Tap and hold on the link
- Select Open (or Open in background)
- Safari navigates to the website, instead of launching the app
Do it once and Safari remembers your preference. If ever you want to launch the app instead, simply select the Open in “App name” option.
Over to you
